Ten minutes south of our Burien school, Des Moines offers one of the calmest starting environments in South King County — and Seattle One uses it deliberately. The gentle streets around the Marina District and Redondo waterfront are perfect for nervous first-timers before graduating to bigger roads.
How We Train in Des Moines
Our Des Moines curriculum climbs from the waterfront grid to Marine View Drive's curves — an excellent introduction to speed control and sightline management — then to Pacific Highway S (SR-99) with its dense commercial traffic near Highline College, and finally to Kent-Des Moines Road and the I-5 interchange for full-speed merging. Many of our adult students near Highline College book lessons between classes; pick-up on campus is routine for us.

Instructor's note: Marine View Drive's blend of curves, hills, and glare off the Sound teaches visual scanning habits that flat suburban grids simply can't.
